The Bakery

All made by hand,
on the same block since 1876.

Carol and David added the bakery in 1979. The Wrapple is Carol's recipe. Come early on Saturday for the Pepperoni Cheese Twist.

The Wrapple

Carol came up with the Wrapple more than thirty years ago. Baked apples from a nearby orchard, wrapped in a thick layer of piecrust, drizzled with vanilla icing on the way out of the oven. Hand-held, a little messy, and in the case until the local apples run out — typically around June.

Daily Hampshire Gazette, October 2016: “People go bonkers when there are no Wrapples.”

Three Wrapples on a red plate, vanilla icing draped over the top, the apple-and-cinnamon filling visible inside the piecrust folds.

A round, golden Cheddar Cheese Bread on a wire cooling rack. Pulled-knot top, melted cheese baked into the crust.

Cheddar Cheese Bread

The famous one

Cheddar baked into a pulled, knot-top loaf. The cheese crisps at the edges where it bubbles up to the crust. Also served as Cheddar Cheese Rolls when the kitchen feels like it.

Two loaves of Pepperoni Cheese Twist Bread on a sheet pan. Pepperoni rounds tucked into braided dough, cheese melted between the folds.

Pepperoni Cheese Twist Bread

Most popular

Pepperoni and cheese braided into the loaf. Eat a few inches standing in the parking lot. Five minutes back in the oven at home and it comes back to life.

A round Irish Soda Bread, golden-brown, with the traditional cross cut into the top crust.

Irish Soda Bread

Springtime treat

Round, the cross cut into the top, the crumb tight and gentle. Around for a few weeks every spring — call ahead during March or you'll miss it.

A whole Apple Pie with a lattice top, baked deep gold, the apples bubbling at the edges.

Apple Pie

Local apples
